Peached out!

We have a peach tree in our yard.  Some years we get two three peaches, some years we get a thousand!  This is the year we got a throusand!  So far I’ve bottle 18 one litre bottles, made peach freezer jam, peach salsa, peach chutney, peach pie, and cut up some peaches to freeze for fruit drinks.  I LOVE peaches, but wow, am I ever peached out.

I also canned hot pepper jelly, and sweet mustard pickles (so yummy!).  I gave away two laundry baskets full of peaches and just received a basket full of tomatoes.  They’re still sitting on my dining room table waiting to be bottled.  I’m trying to find the gumption to get at it!  Another friend of mine just gave me a bunch of fresh jalapeno peppers.  So I think I’ll use the tomatoes for vegetable salsa.  That will be so nice over the winter.  Now, just to drag my a$$ to the kitchen and make it.  I have to do it soon though, before the tomatoes spoil.

On the writing front, I’m working on a quickie to submit to the EC for the caveman anthology, due September 30th.  I’m only two thousand words in, but I should be able to get it done in time!

So I’m off to reach my word count for the day and if I have enough energy left, I just might start making salsa.

Have a great wednesday everyone!

  1. Good for you! I like making my own jam and pickles too. LOL Makes me feel like I’m Laura Ingalls Wilder.

Good luck with your quickie! ;-)

    Hey Annette,
What kind of jam and pickles?

  3. Usually just strawberry or plum jam and mustard pickles. Oh, and I made chow before, but only once. Might try that again if I pick up some green tomatoes.
