Julia has a brand new book coming out next week.

Tying Up Guys for Fun and Profit
When I had the opportunity to shoot two book trailers for my debut Dark Ages vampire novel, SAINT SANGUINUS, the extremely challenging prospect of showing enough of the story to intrigue without providing spoilers was a tough one.
Enough story elements significantly change certain characters that I was really stumped for awhile. But I realized that, at its heart, this book is also a superhero origin story, and this archetypal character will always go through some sort of ordeal during the story. So it’s not really a spoiler.
Thank heavens, I thought. I can go straight to the ordeal scene where my main character is tied up to a tree.
Of course, when I met the actor who’d been cast as Peredur, the 6th century Welsh warrior who becomes a guardian between humans and vampires, I had to warn him that I needed some shirtless footage for the book trailer.
If he had declined, I would have had to figure out some other, less-hot way of presenting this sequence, because I don’t believe in trying to coax performers to disrobe if they’re not comfortable with it.
“Sure,” he said, untroubled. “I’m an underwear model.”
AWESOME.
And thank heavens he turned out to be a hockey player, as well. Once the shirt was off, he was indeed very 6th century warrior-like.
Sometimes the planets align, and in this case I’m very grateful to Atlantic Talent Agency for sending Scott Baker to me.
Thanks, Scott, for being just the Peredur I needed.

“Where’s my Six Piece?”
11 Nov 11 at 12:59 pm #Anne – The book trailers remain the high point of my year. Looking forward to more filmmaking in my future.
Tara – LOL! A Dark Ages Welsh warrior has to eat McNuggets to keep up his strength, doesn’t he?
11 Nov 11 at 2:16 pm #Congratulations, Julia! It’s been inspiring to watch you follow not one but two of your passions. The fact that you were able to combine them for your debut is even better!
