That Voodoo You Do by Myla Jackson

Catherine Boudreaux slid into the back seat of the limousine, dead tired and sick of all the push and shove of a night out in New Orleans.

James Roland, her so-called date, dropped in next to her, slobbering drunk, with hands and arms like a freakin’ octopus. Even before the chauffeur closed the door,
James’s fingers ran over her body, slipping beneath her dress straps to pinch her breasts.

Sharp pain pierced her nipples. “James, no.” She pushed him away only to have him slide back, pressing her down against the leather seat.

“Come on, baby, you know you want some of this.” He rubbed hard ridge beneath his fly against her thigh, while sticking a wet, disgusting tongue into her ear.

The man worked out. He had a nice body, but he was arrogant, obsessive and annoying. Not to mention, he was stronger than she was and using that strength to his advantage.

“What part of no did you not understand?” she asked, struggling to stay ahead of his groping.

“Your lips are saying no, but your body is telling me yes.”

“I don’t know what translation you’re using, but you’ve got it all wrong.” She shoved both hands hard against his chest. “Let me up now, or I’ll have to get violent.”

“Yeah, baby, I love it when you talk tough.” His fingers squeezed harder on her nipple and his tongue dug deeper into her ear.

Her body stiffened. Catherine only wanted to go home and sleep off a migraine quickly growing in proportion to the amount of gymnastics she performed to evade James.

“Come on, let’s do it here.” James ground his pelvis against hers, his head descending to claim her lips.

Catherine turned her face from his kiss, his wet lips sliming her cheek. “I’m not in the mood.”

“Come on, don’t you want to celebrate your purchase?”

“I’ll celebrate in a bubble bath.” Which sounded sadly more interesting than James.

His hands slithered down her body, cupping her pussy through the thin fabric of her dress. “That sounds like fun.”

“Alone.” Catherine slapped away his hand.

“You worked hard to acquire that tract of swamp land, imagine all the oil you can pump out of it.” He shivered. “I get chills just thinking of all that money you’ll add to your family fortune.”

“Yeah. So what’s that got to do with pawing me?” She planted a palm against his forehead and leveraged away his face.

“You and me, we’re made for each other. I can help you invest all that lovely cash in the stock market. You’ll be even richer.”

Invest? Catherine went still beneath James. “Is that why you asked me out? You want to manage my money?”

“Hell, yeah.” He planted a slobbery kiss against her chin, reeking of scotch. “Who wouldn’t want to?”

Catherine sucked in a deep breath and let it out slowly. Why did she think this would be any different? James was handsome, well-built and…just like every other man
she’d met since she’d inherited her grandfather’s billions. They all wanted only one part of her—the part that included her bank account.

She fumbled for the intercom button on the door and jabbed it.

James shoved a hand into the slit of her skirt, his fingers hooking the elastic of her panties, ripping them over her hips.

The window behind the driver’s seat slid downward. “Yes, Miss Boudreaux?”

“Stop the car,” she demanded, straining against James’s weight.

“Hey, shut the damned window,” James shouted, flinging his shoe at the driver. “We’re about to do some serious fucking.”

“Like hell we are.” Catherine brought up her knee sharply between James’s legs, hitting his sweet spot with as much force as she could leverage. “Just in case you didn’t get the message, I said no.”

James screamed like a girl and fell over onto the floor, clutching his crotch.

In the middle of New Orleans traffic, the vehicle screeched to a halt. The chauffeur, dressed in a black suit with a crisp white shirt, black tie and mirrored sunglasses, opened the back door.

Catherine sat up quickly, straightening her dress to cover her naked breasts. “Etienne, please escort this gentleman to the curb.”

“Etienne had a family emergency and wasn’t able to perform the remainder of his driving duties tonight,” the chauffeur announced. “I’m his replacement, Lucien.”

“Whatever,” Catherine waved a hand. “Get this man out of here.”

With a groan, James grabbed for her calf. “Catherine, don’t play hard to get. I was only teasing.”

“Get out, James.” She kicked at his hand, her high heel connecting with the man’s cheekbone, leaving a long, jagged scratch.

James grabbed his face. “Bitch.” When he reached for her again, Lucien yanked the offensive man by his feet, dragging him from the limousine and onto the sidewalk. Once James was outside the vehicle, the chauffeur assisted the man to
his feet, and dusted him off, with a great deal of civility, even retrieving the shoe James had flung.

Then Lucien closed the car door.

Catherine punched the lock button as James lunged for the door handle. He yanked on it and then pounded both fists against the window. “Catherine Boudreaux, you’ll pay for this!”

She leaned back against the seat, rubbing her fingers over her sore nipples, feeling like she’d already paid for it. Her hand fell to her side landing on a soft fabric pouch. Had it fallen out of James’s pocket? Catherine switched on a
reading light and studied the object. If she wasn’t mistaken, this was a gris gris pouch, the kind the Voodoo shops sold by the thousands to gullible tourists.

What was James doing with it? Trying to weave a little love spell?

Catherine snorted. Not happening. She rolled down the window, about to throw the pouch at James.

Before the window slid down, the limo pulled out into traffic. “Are you all right, Miss Boudreaux?” Lucien called through the open dividing glass.

She stared into the rearview mirror, expecting the mirrored sunglasses, instead she fell into the driver’s deep gold eyes reflecting back at her. He had black hair and equally black brows, his skin swarthy and tanned.

Yum. Something primal stirred deep in Catherine’s body.

“Where to, ma’am?”

With the gris gris clenched in her hand, her head pounding as if natives beat tom toms in rhythm with her pulse, Catherine’s eyes blurred and she dragged her gaze from the handsome driver. Her head fell back against the seat. “I don’t
care…take me away.”

“Anywhere in particular?” he asked.

“An island out in the middle of nowhere.” She closed her eyes, willing the pain to ease from her temples. “Someplace where people like that creep James can’t find me would be nice.”

“I know just the spot,” the chauffeur murmured.

Author Moments

A friend of mine asked me if I would be willing to participate in an anthology to help an extraordinary young boy with cancer.  She put together posts from numerous authors and this collection is to help raise awareness and funds for his charity.

Help Harry Help Others.

“Britain’s Kindest Kid”, Harry Moseley, is more than a nice kid with a big heart; he’s a real life hero.

An eleven-year old hero with an inoperable brain tumor who has raised over £500,000.00 for Cancer Research UK.

Joining Harry in his quest for research funds, are an amazing group of 18 romance writers, along with a wonderful cover artist/graphic designer,
who have come together to support Harry, and his charity: Cancer Research UK.

“Author Moments” is a collection of essays written by these talented writers. As a bonus, each author has included an excerpt from one of their current,
or upcoming, releases.

From the New York Times bestselling lists to the writer who is just beginning their quest, you will find this anthology filled with generous writing advice and anecdotes.
It won’t matter where you are on your road to publication or even in your life journey, Author Moments will fill you with love, laughter and a renewed hope that all things
are possible when you care enough to come together and make a difference.  Like real life hero, Harry Moseley.

The Authors Helping Harry invite you to pitch in and help Harry find a cure simply by purchasing a copy of this wonderful anthology.

I’m in Whispering Cove today talking with Dr. Danica Mitchell, formerly Dr. Kent. Between you and me, I’m hoping she’ll be a little more forthcoming than her Whispering Cove counterparts who’ve been interviewed this week.

Interviewer: Thanks for joining me today, Dani. I know you’re between patients so I’ll make this quick.
Dani: No problem. My next patient is family now. He’s wily, but he’s not going anywhere.

Interviewer: I’m guessing from the fondness in your tone that Byron is your next appointment.
Dani: He is.

Interviewer: Is he still meddling and matchmaking?
Dani: *laughing* He’s taken a break on the matchmaking, though I’m not sure how much longer that will last.

Interviewer: Why’s that?
Dani: He keeps making noises that if Braydon and I don’t hurry up and give him a great grandchild he’s going to find a new couple to be his honorary grandchildren. A couple who won’t let him down.

Interviewer: *laughing at his antics* He is direct in his non-direct way. Now let me be direct in my direct way. Are you and Braydon working on a family?
Dani: I’ll tell you what we tell Byron. We already are a family. ;)

Interviewer: You think you’re so vague, but I’ve heard you’ve been spending a lot of time out on the boat. I’ll find out your secrets soon enough.
Dani: Maybe. In the meantime, I’m going to enjoy my private sailing trips with my new husband.

Interviewer: I can’t blame you for that. Now tell me, other than your newlywed bliss, what’s going on in Whispering Cove? What’s this festival I’m hearing people talk about?
Dani: The fall festival. It’s a huge party we do every year at the close of tourist season. I really missed it while I was gone.

Interviewer: Is it for the tourists or the townspeople?
Dani: Both. Tourists love it. We have booths for everyone’s entertainment. Music, face painting, pony rides, a dunking booth. I’ve heard rumors this year of a kissing booth and psychic booth. Oh and Hauk is talking about setting the bar up as a haunted house, so that should be a good time.

Interviewer: That does sound like a great time.
Dani: *laughing* What it sounds like is a great excuse for Errol, Harold and Byron to get back into matchmaking.

Interviewer: You think they will?
Dani: Wouldn’t put it past them. And before you ask, yes I have my suspicion on who Byron will target. And no, I’m not telling.

Interviewer: And I was hoping for something revealing from you.
Dani: I can reveal with certainty that whoever he targets will thank him. After they’ve been married for a year or two. Or more. Braydon and I are thinking about waiting until our fifth anniversary to thank him.

Interviewer: I think he’d say he didn’t need any thanks. Well, other than a baby to bounce on his knee.
Dani: I think you’re right. *checks incoming text message* Listen, I need to run. Hauk says Sophie’s not feeling well. It was great catching up with you.

Well, I didn’t get anything real revealing, but my guess from the look on Dani’s face is that Hauk will be one of Byron’s next target. I wonder who he’ll match with him, though.

Wet in Whispering Cove, by Cathryn Fox

Today I’m speaking with Trent Wilson.  Trent is a local firefighter from the small town of Whispering Cove, Maine.  He’s also Errol’s grandson.  Errol, along with
Harold Adair and Byron Mitchell are the town’s rum drinking, card playing, matchmaking trouble makers—men who will go to great lengths to get what they
what.  But, if not for them Trent might never have gotten back with Katy Wilson, the sweet girl from his past, the same
girl who he’s been pining over for the last ten years.

Interviewer:  So Trent the first thing I’d like to know is how is married life treating you?

Trent: Katy has made me the happiest guy alive.

Interviewer: From the smile you’re always sporting, I’m inclined to agree.  Speaking of Katy’s, how is her cooking show going?

Trent:  You know Katy, she’s happiest when she’s cooking up a storm.

Interviewer: Do you help her with menu ideas?

Trent:  We’ve been known to experiment with chocolate.

Interviewer: Do you help her create new recipes?

Trent: Creating new…recipes…is the best part of being married.

Interviewer: Okay, on that note, how are things at the firehouse?

Trent: Good, now that granddad and Adam aren’t lighting fires all hours of the night.

Interviewer:   How is Adam anyway?  Still Whispering Cove’s most eligible bachelor I presume?

Trent:  Yeah, and he’s still a total pain in my ass.   Some woman needs to get that guy on a leash.

Interviewer:  I think it would take a very special woman to tame that guy.  Let’s talk about your grand dad.  Has good old Errol been meddling in your affairs?

Trent: Katy and I are married so I think he got what he wanted.  Of course he is still ranting on about having great grandbabies before he sails out to sea.

Interviewer: Errol, Harold and Bryon have been doing a lot of whispering lately, do you think they’re up to something?

Trent: Those three have trouble written all over them and they’re always up to something.

Interviewer: So Trent, can you tell us something no one knows about you?

Trent: Yes.  But I’m not going to.

Interviewer: So you do have a secret then?

Trent: Maybe.

Interviewer: Does this secret have anything to do with yours and Katy’s trip into town and her new ‘easy wear’ wardrobe?

Trent: Are you calling my wife fat?

Interviewer: Ah, no and I’m the one who’s suppose to be asking the question.  Okay, moving on then.   If your granddads were up to something, who’d you like to see them set up next?

Trent:  The guy who’s being a huge pain in my ass.

Interviewer:  Adam Collins?

Trent: The one and only.

Interviewer: I’ve noticed the two of you’ve been helping out a lot at the fall festival.

Trent: Granddad Errol roped us into it.

Interviewer:  The festival draws a big crowd.  You never know, maybe Adam will finally find himself a brazen girl who’s ready, willing and able to tame him.

Trent: You never know.

Interviewer: So you think it could happen?

Trent:  Let’s just say I think this year’s festival is going to be very...interesting.

Interviewer: You sound like you know something I don’t.

Trent:  That would be a first.

Interviewer:  I guess there is always a first for everything.

Trent: Sometimes and sometimes there is a sequel, too.

Interviewer:  A sequel?

Trent: Yeah, you should come on by the festival to check it out.  I guarantee it will be worth your while.

Interviewer:  Really?

Trent:  Believe me, it might be autumn and the leaves might be changing in Whispering Cove but things are going to start heating up again.

Interviewer:  I think you really do know something I don’t.

Trent: Then be sure to stop by the festival and find out for yourself.   You won’t regret it.

Interviewer:  Well when you put it that wow, how can I resist.

Cathryn invites you to come on by as well and check out Burned, Bold and Brazen the sexy sequel to Wild Wet and Wicked in Whispering Cove.  As things heat up, and Adam gets more than he bargained for when he agrees to man the kissing booth, the return trip to Whispering cove will be well worth your while. Guaranteed!
